Now, let us tell you the story of how Mr. Neal’s belief in high-quality education for all children extends to their nutrition as well. As a principal, Mr. Neal once wanted to give his students a first-class southern-style breakfast. But one of the teachers suggested, “Why not just give them pizza?” in an effort to save money.
Mr. Neal knew that pizza was not a nutritious breakfast and asked the teacher if she gave her own children pizza for breakfast. When she said no, Mr. Neal responded, “These kids shouldn’t get pizza for breakfast either. I don’t feed Madison and Winston pizza for breakfast, so what I give my students is going to be on the same standard as my very own children.”
This experience reaffirmed Mr. Neal’s belief that all children deserve the same level of care and attention, no matter their background or socioeconomic status. And this belief forms the foundation of MW Standards, which is dedicated to raising the standard for education and providing every child with the tools and resources to achieve success.
